Why get your Akashic Record?

OK, today we are going into the weirdness of Akashic records. I'll be quoting some stuff that may or may not be accurate. For example: "Did you know that Akashic happens to mean sky or space in Sanskrit?" I can't verify that but the entire concept is certainly spacey.  Well I guess I could verify what Akashic means in Sanskrit — if I cared.

Moving right along: "the term is a part of the Hindu religion and it also is a part of a mystical concept that allows you to find yourself." This assumes that you are mystically lost and that there is some good reason to find yourself. Most people will be better off not finding themselves and continuing to live more or less happily with their illusions, the internet  and cable TV. Never, ever, assume that your real self, once found, will bring you joy.

"… these records are like being a library that is filled with knowledge that can help you to grow as a person … it will contain all the secrets to life."  What always baffles me is if this stuff is so hot and has all the secrets of life wouldn't we all be using it already?  You may have noticed that verifiable scientific discoveries that do useful things in the real world are quickly and widely adopted.

"It is amazing how something that is more new age can find so many followers and so quickly."  Just ignore the stupid grammar. Is it a surprise? Haven't there always been a large number of people who turn to ridiculous belief structures that promise magical solutions?

And "They … contain everything that the universe has planned for you."  Do you really want to know, even if you could? Kind of takes all the free out of free will leaving you as just an actor forcefed your lines. I suppose though that for an extra donation you can also discover the secrets that will let you fix the life the universe has planned for you if it happens to involve early death, extreme pain, nasty behavior and so on.

Just don't come whining around about getting ripped if you have your Akashic record read. You've been warned.
