Ride Fast - leave a really messy-looking corpse
Well, hey you don't expect to live forever do you? So maybe this is a little mistitled and mis-categorized if you don't think of motorcycling as a sport. Motorcycle racing is most definitely a sport but those guys are not stupid yahoos and they wear full leathers (or maybe Kevlar), have protective pads, major bad boots and serious no messing around gloves and helmets. And they know how to dump it, trash it and walk away - most of the time.
I'm no racer type. A little too old and not trained well enough for it - and it isn't a cheap sport if you like superbikes. But, yeah, I like to go fast. I like to read about bikes - books, magazines, tech manuals. It's weird but there it is. Mostly I like to ride. I like leather too, feels nice, makes me feel secure.
So what's the point? Well, it has to do with what riding is about. I don't see a whole of stuff that gets on the inside. But I've had this ste I've visited on and off for a couple 3 years now. Guy had kind of stopped writing most of his own stuff, but today I saw he's got a new post up and it gets close to it for me. Now this is an older article that he wrote:
And here's the post he made today:
Now the deal here is that the ride is - or can be - like he's talking about. It can turn around a dead downer day. Maybe not everybody rides alive all the time. Some days I'm zombied but the ride can turn it all back on.
So think about it, it isn't just transportation or a sport. It's meditation, maybe a kind of therapy. If you ride you gotta really pay serious attention. It's usually the ones who forget that make the mess.
